I have been using Wise to transfer to my SCB bank for along time without an issue.
The news of late has been all about the banks in Thailand making it difficult for people to access their money.
I had been keeping an eye on the AUD-BHT price and decided to transfer some money for the first time in 3 months.
Wise told me it was going to take a few hours, no problem.
At 11 am I got a message saying SCB had rejected my payment due to a name mismatch.
WTF…this has never been a problem before A.I. became involved.
The banks here use your surname first the same as a passport, but clearly the new changes aren’t smart enough to check the name is perfectly correct, just in a different order.
Will we be banned from boarding flights next?
I created a new transfer using my surname as my first name, transferred in minutes.
The big issue for me is that when i transfer from an Australian bank to WISE its instant.
When it gets rejected the Australian bank says it can take between 4 – 10 WORKING DAYS to be available.
So I am losing interest daily on these uncleared funds.
This just seems to be a scam.
There is no way physical money changes hands in the time frame given during the transfer, so it should still be back in my account.
