Whether you’re visiting for a quick weekend or settling in for a longer stay, finding reliable local spots can take some trial and error.
To save you the search, here is a quick-reference guide to my top recommended places around Rayong.
Best Beaches
Mae Ramphueng Beach: Perfect for long, peaceful seaside walks.
It spans over 10 km and is lined with quiet shade trees, seafood shacks, and relaxed beachfront spots.
Laem Charoen Beach: Located closer to the city center, famous for its calm waters, fresh local seafood eateries, and laid-back evening atmosphere.
This one is my personal Favorite
- Suan Son Beach: A quieter alternative further east toward Ban Phe, lined with beautiful casuarina pines providing plenty of natural shade.
Best Pharmacy
The best pharmacy in my experience.
If you are here long term they will add you into their database using just your phone number.
This makes it easier to pickup regular prescription medication.
Easiest Bank
If you have all the relevant documents , this is a very easy bank to assist you opening an account.
I had my passport showing my long term visa, my lease agreement and a smile.
Best AIS store – Sim Issues
If you have an AIS sim, and you have any issues with connections, banking or anything foreigner related then this store can assist.
Many AIS stores can not change system settings. If your personal details were entered incorrectly etc then this is the store to visit.
This one is located in Central plaza. Be aware there is another AIS store nearby, that will be unable to assist you with system issues.
Best Hospital
This hospital is great.
Just turn up and there are people who can help you in English.
I would avoid the big Rayong hospital if you can not speak Thai.
Best wool shop and crafts
This is where I buy my wool. It also has many things for all sorts of crafts.
Best Night Market
Great night market.
Opens late afternoon into the evening.
Best accommodation
Caza V1 serviced apartments are a good option when you first arrive in Rayong.
Its location makes it ideal for shopping and visiting all the places above without needing transport.
