My time as a Volunteer
One day after returning to Dromana I noticed a sign at the salvation army asking for a volunteer for their online store.
The following week the sign was still there so I decided to ask about it.
I figured that with my website skills i might be able to help the store and keep myself busy while waiting to hear back from Centrelink.
The girl in the shop said I would need to speak to the manager, who was a way for a week.
The following week, I went back and met with the manager.
After a short meeting and understanding what was required I said I was interested and started the following week.
My Dad goes to a gym opposite the store 4 days a week, so i said I would volunteer on those days.
Volunteering has been a great experience.
Getting out each day, making new friends and making a difference has been great.
The Salvos have a website?
One of the amazing things I have learned is that so many people dont know the salvos have a website.

Police Check Required
All Salvos volunteer’s have to have a Police check done.
Its an easy enough process and doesn’t cost you anything.
You also need to do some online training.
They send you the links and you just set aside some time to complete them.
Once completed there is the option to save the certificate for each module that you complete.
Certainly not hard if you listen to each one.
I actually enjoyed it as it gives your brain a workout.
There are also some modules around working with children, not relevant to where I work but still worth doing.
Last week I sold almost $1700 online in 1 day.
This was great but it did come with a downside for me.
The following week the manager said that a customer had called to complain , they had bought a dress online for a party, and received the complete harry potter DVD set instead.
I am assuming I got the packing slips mixed up.
The area I have to work in is very cluttered and there are people placing new items around you while you are working.
I find it very confusing sometimes.
Since this incident I now only have one item in the work area at the time to ensure It doesn’t happen again.
Just noticed something funny today.
I had listed a Han Solo Self adhesive poster online.
It should of said ” Han Solo in Carbonite” instead spellchecker has changed it to ” Han Solo in Carbonate” oops….will need to change that on Monday.
Its now the start of December and after getting an exemption from Centrelink I am now working Monday to Friday.
I am using my E-Bike each day.
I start at 9 and finish at 12.
This is great, i then go have lunch, do some shopping if i need and then have the afternoon to myself.
Three hours doesn’t sound like much, but its all I can do at the moment .
I still get very tired each afternoon.
We are now into the xmas break.
The Internet has been off since last week.
Impossible for me to do anything as I cant see whats sold.
Unable to print dispatch paperwork and delivery labels, so I have only been doing an hour at a time.
Hopefully after new year all will be back to normal.
Internet is still off ,but a temporary fix allowed me to print out the paperwork for the things that had sold.
I spent the morning packing everything.
All sent today.
January was a pretty good month.
Lots of popular stuff has sold online.
I recommended they get a QR code for the shop so that more people will be aware of it.
Thats coming soon apparently.
Sometimes you just need to set aside some time to have a really good think.

Another week of hats
Last week was busy mainly just before I was about to leave.
I went through the listings and reduced a lot of the prices, with a fair bit of success.
