Only 24 more days left
After experiencing a stroke several years ago, my employment opportunities were significantly reduced.
Fortunately, Centrelink provided me with the opportunity to volunteer five days a week.
This arrangement allowed me to maintain an income while also giving me the rewarding experience of contributing positively to my community through work.
Since September of last year, I have been volunteering at the Dromana Salvation Army. However, I will be concluding my time there on March 14th, as I am set to receive my superannuation and transition into retirement.
Recently, someone inquired about why I am retiring at such an early age. My response was simple: I want to enjoy my life while I still have the ability to do so.
My Funniest memory
One of the funniest memories i have is probably only funny to me and not the recipients.
Not long after starting I had a huge week, selling over $1500 online.
The work area i had was very cluttered and I hadnt really developed a routine.
Anyway I packed all the items and sent them off to the post office.
A few days later the manager said that a very angry women had called to say that she had bought a dress online to wear at a function.
Instead of the dress she ordered she had recieved the Harry Potter Boxset instead.
I never actually heard from the customer who did order Harry.
The one thing I took away from this is to check the customers details .
A reason to get up each day
Having a job to go to each day is a fantastic feeling for me.
Just being able to be useful each day is a great thing.
Every few weeks a funny hat or mask would come in and I would make all off the staff and volunteers put it on and take their picture.
I would then manipulate the pictures in photo shop.
Many of my pics are hanging on the board in the tea room.

This was just the xmas one. I bought the elf costume and only wore it once.

The funniest video i made was when i got an app that makes photos sing.
Here is the original pic we took at work.

After adding the singing app
Volunteering: A Call to Action
For individuals who find themselves with an abundance of free time and a desire to make a positive impact, the best course of action is to simply take the initiative and start volunteering.
Engaging in volunteer work not only benefits the community but also enriches your own life through new experiences, skills development, and connections with others who share your passions. Whether you choose to support local nonprofits, participate in community events, or lend a hand to those in need, taking that first step can lead to meaningful contributions and personal fulfillment.
Hahaha! I love reading your blogs! Even though I know you well, I see things I didn’t know & you also make me laugh
